Return of the Desi Jedi !

Her name was Leia. Born and brought up in Chennai.Her parents were Krishnan and Mahalakshmi. While Leia was growing up, all her friends either used to either make fun of her name or wondered why her parents named her Leia! Leia never felt ashamed of her name and knew her father was the one who named her. He always called her ‘Princess Leia’. Krishnan was a die hard Star Wars fan. He had seen all the star war movies ever made. He still remembers the day he saw his first Star Wars movie in 1977 with all his newly graduated friends. Naturally he wanted to pass on his Star Wars passion to his only daughter. When she was a child, every story he told her was a Star Wars story. Gradually she became a Star Wars addict too. She knew all the literature ever been written about Star Wars. She has seen all the movies. She knew all the differences,even the minute ones, between the old star war movies and the new movies.

Leia is waiting for Divya at CCD. Divya is her best friend since school days. Divya comes in talking on her mobile.
Leia tries to say hi, but divya lip-syncs her that she’s on phone with her fiancé.
Leia’s getting frustrated.

“Could you stop talking on phone now! its been half hour and you are still on phone!”

A startled Divya disconnects the call. She has never seen Leia so frustrated.

“What’s the matter with you? Can’t you wait for a minute!”

“I need to tell you something very important.”

looking at Leia’s expression, Divya knew some thing happened and was waiting for Leia to say something.

“He proposed! Raj Proposed!”

“That’s Wonderful! congratulations di! So when are you going to get married?” Divya exclaimed.

Leia had tears in her eyes.

“I said No!”

Leia knew Raj a.k.a RajSekhar from the first day she joined her job. Raj was a typical goofy hyderabadi, never took anything seriously. From the day they met, Raj and Leia grew fond of each other. She taught him to speak tamil. He taught her to speak telugu and even a little hyderabadi hindi! She made him to shift to a flat near by her house so they could travel to office
in the same bus. Every body thought they would eventually get married. Even their parents thought the same.

“You said no!” Divya screamed in disbelief.
Leia just sat there silently.

“Dont tell me it is because of the stupid dream of yours!”

Leia didnt say anything. Now she was a bit angry. It is not a stupid dream, she told herself.

Only two people knew about her dream.

Krishnan went to Leia’s room to wake her up. Today’s her first day in office. He noticed the smile on her face even though she was asleep. He sat there, looking at his princess’ beautiful face. She woke up and saw her dad. She couldn’t stop giggling.
“you had the dream again?” Krishnan asked.
“Yes. The stupid dream again!” She smiled.
“No it isn’t a stupid dream” Krishnan said.

She never saw Raj so silent. He looked heart broken.
She wanted to tell him about her dream. She didn’t get a chance.
Raj was avoiding her through out the day.

She got down from the staff bus. It was late.
Raj left early today. She had to walk through couple of streets.
On the way, was Raj’s house.

She couldn’t stop thinking about him.There he was out in his balcony.
He looked sad. He dint even look at her.
She went past his house, took the dark turn at the end of the street.

‘THUD!’
some thing hard struck her on the head. She couln’t react.
Someone’s trying to pull the chain around her neck.
Her kness started yeiding. She screamed ‘Raj!’ and went down.

She can see some coming to help her. It was Raj!
Suddenly Raj took out a light saber from his pocket.
Then she fainted with a smile on her face!

She woke up in her bed. She felt dizzy.
Every one was waiting for her to wake up. Raj,Mom and Dad sitting around her.
She sprang up and hugged Raj.

“When are we going to get married! Dad.. He’s the one!” Leia exclaimed.
“What happened to you. You said no yesterday!” giggled Raj.
“Yesterday I din’t know you had a lightsaber!”
“lightsaber! What lightsaber?”
“The one you took out of your pocket!”
“lightsaber! You mean my new Nokia cell phone with torch light!”

They couldn’t stop laughing. Krishnan was already on the floor.
Leia was grinning still hugging Raj.
