SPORT IS MY RELIGION, WHAT'S YOURS?

What is religion?
According to Wikipedia 'A religion is an organized approach to human spirituality which usually encompasses a set of narratives, symbols, beliefs and practices, often with a supernatural or transcendent quality, that give meaning to the practitioner's experiences of life through reference to a higher power or truth.'

Though there are already many religions in this world I find them deviating to an extreme extent from the purpose they have been created for.Religion has been polluted by many a men during their evolution through the centuries. For certain people who crave for power the most attractive and easy option was becoming a religious head and influencing the lives of innocent people. Many ideas which are against the purpose of religion like Religious superstitions, hatred for other religions have since polluted 'religion'.

In this grave situation if one is looking for a true way to approach the human spirituality , the only thing that springs to my mind is 'sport'. Any body who had played any sport in their life, even for a day, would definitely agree with me. A bare footed, ten year old kid playing football in the street corner with his friends has already experienced the greatest feeling he could ever experience, when he scored the goal and was embraced by all his team mates. He was not thinking what cast or creed his team mates were of. He was not thinking of the money he would earn in future when he becomes a star. He was not thinking about anything except the pure joy of life, derived from his own sweat, hard work and enthusiasm. (of course, later when the kid grew up, he forgot the great feeling. His parents and the society around him say he needs to earn money in order to be called success in life. His religion is so complicated that he never understood it or got answers from it!)

Someone who never played any sport in his life might ask me, what does sport teach you? sport teaches you everything you need to lead your life. discipline, hard work, patience, simplicity, team spirit and never say die attitude. If one does not have discipline, hard work and patience, he could never excel in sports or life. you need to approch both life and sport in a simple and straight forward way. dont think about past or the future. Think of what you need to do right now and do what ever needs to be done right now. In a team there are various members with various qualities. The team does well only when everybody plays together. No matter how brilliant one team member is, if he does not play with the team he would never do well.In a team all its members are equal.Every one is as important as the other. Its the same case with the society. All the members of the society are as important as you. The society will thrive only when it has team spirit. Sport teaches you to never give up. Winning or loosing does not matter. you would always get another chance if you keep fighting. A sportsman never looses his heart when he looses. He becomes more determined and works harder in order to succeed next time, no matter how many times he looses. At the same time when he wins once, he never becomes complacent, because he could loose the next time! Its the same with life. No matter how many times you win or loose in life, never give up. keep fighting.

Sport teaches you the ultimate truth of life. 'Don't give up. Winning or loosing does not matter and it is only the journey that matters'. Practicing this religion is not tough at all. You need to go the play ground instead of a temple or a mosque or a church. you don't read someone's teachings and scriptures, who you dont even know. you don't need to do fasting in order to keep your body healthy.

If I were to become the Prime Minister of India(where i have power to pass laws with out needing the consent of either of the parliament houses :P), the first thing I would do is pass a law stating 'All of the official records of The citizens of India will contain only 'Sport' in religion column. This is in order to solve all the problems created by the conventional religion and caste system. This would solve major problems like reservation, communal disharmony etc,. All the educational institutions would have SPORT as a subject where students will study the philosophies taught by sport, all the great stories of human sporting history etc., Finally, stadia will be built all over the country till their number is more than number of temples, mosques, churches, gurudwaras put together. All the panchayats, mandals, town municipalities, districts, city corporations will have more stadia than the conventional religious places of worship put together.'

If Rahul Gandhi reads my post, I am sure he would be inspired. I don't expect him to offer me the post of PM, but he would definitely make me the sports minister(at least human resources minster) in his cabinet :P. I don't expect the above statement to become true in the near future, so i urge you all to make 'sport' your religion and teach your children about the greatest religion of all.

In search of love

Experience taught me its very difficult to find love, leave alone true love. especially if u are a guy..that too a spoilt, confused, not so good lookin guy.

In my experience i wud have proposed to a zillion gals(proud of it though :P) with out any success (not so proud of it..:( ). so i thought I'd categorize the various ways u cud ask a gal for love..for the sake of those rookies who are still contemplating which way to choose.. but i shud warn u though all of them have a very less probability of success (unless u r a John Abraham kinda hunk..).

The first way is definitely 'write a letter'..the most popular way in school..
guy composes a letter full of superlatives about the gal..and sprinkles it with cute little heart symbols.. and of course a huge greeting card if he thinks he could afford to waste money on his love.. ;). guy goes in search of the gal and finds her.. pedals faster..skids his bicycle in front of the gal in a typical gult hero style.. and then starts a conversation which goes some thing like this...

guy: hiiiii.... :D
gal: u again..!..and why do make ur dakota cycle to skid all the time..it already looks like junk..
guy: hehe..leave it.. i've something for u.. (takes out the big greeting card with a
Colgate ad smile..)
gal: whts this?
guy: its a greeting card.. :D
gal: hehehe(sarcastic) .. i know its a greeting card.. but why did u bring it to me..
guy: you'll know why..there's a letter with the card too..u shud read it..its quite poetic too...
gal: (with a frown) ok..(and takes it..)

our hero in a elated mood takes off on his bicycle..grinning...
and this is what probably 'll happen next day..

guy: so...:D
gal: so..?..wht..?
guy: dint u read my letter..?
gal: oh ur letter.. its in the garbage bin near the place you met me yesterday..
guy: wht.. in the garbage bin..!!..wht about the card..??
gal:
ohh the card .. I gave it to vicky (the senior with a cute smile.)..hope you dont mind..:D
guy:
:'(

After many letter writing episodes like this, the guy realizes the letter funda and all the cards he bought with hard earned money (stolen from dad's pocket)
wont work. he immediately consults his frnd who tasted success with many of the opposite sex including an hot aunty next door.

so the our guy meets up with the advisor on the terrrace.

guy: these letters and cards are not working man..!
advisor:
ofcourse..letters and cards are outdated dude..u think gals are stupid..?!..nebody can buy a card and get a letter written from his frend..!
guy:
hmm..yeah..u r right..wht shud i do..? :(
advisor:
hmm..u shud try becoming frens first..before u tell them ur intentions...
guy:
oohhh.....really..
advisor:
yes man...believe me..simple rules...make frens..help her..give advice..and whn the moment comes..take advantage..;)
and remember..u shud be patient..if one gal doesn't work out the next one 'll always will..;)
guy: u r so right dude..thnk you so much.. :D
advisor: i know..now lets go and u r going to buy me a beer..

so our guy resorts to the more tedious process of making frens, listening to her worries..giving her advice..doin little chores for her..dropping her at various places .. etc etc... and when he thinks the moment came..used to express his intentions...

This wud generally result in our guy getting slapped..or..inever thoguht of u in such way..we shud just be frens..or..ohh so sweet..but i already have a boy fren..or..the worst one..the rich father and elder brothers of the gal beat him up..!!

though these experiences were never fruitful, our guy got strong mentally. he came to a conclusion after all life can be cruel and he shud be ready to face it.
he also told himself never to act on others advices and decide to do wht his heart tells him to do(this happened after the release of 'mohabbatein' of course..:P).

so..after a lot of trial and error .. and lot of dejection, agony and frustration..our guy came to a conclusion..lemme be straight forward with any gal i meet from now..its has a very low success rate..but who cares..my attempts are not successful even now! and more over when i meet my true love, my dream gal (the gal who loves straight forward guys..!), i wudn't miss out on her by doing stupid things like writing letters, making frens blah blah...

so now a days, when our guy meets a gal now a days..

guy: heyy.
gal: hii..
guy: u r so beautiful..
gal: :D
guy: would you be my gal..?
gal:

guy: heyy.
gal: hii..
guy: u r so beautiful..
gal: :D
guy: would you be my gal..?
gal: hehe.. nice try..
guy: hehe.. hope u dont have a boy frend..!
gal: i do..
guy:

guy: heyy.
gal: hii..
guy: u r so beautiful..
gal: :D
guy: would you be my gal..?
gal: hehe.. u r hopeless..we just met..
guy: so why dont we meet this weekend...
gal: and do wht..
guy: have a couple of beers and have fun..
gal: so..u booze ha..
guy: why.. u dont..!.. u shud..boozing helps evolution of mind..!
gal: hehe...really...
guy: in fact u shud try smoking some weed too..!
gal: <#k#K3k> .. wierdo ..(runs from the place)..

guy: heyy.
gal in office: hii..
guy: u r so beautiful..
gal in office: :D
guy: would you be my gal..?
gal in office: hehe.. lets see
guy: u know..i'm an IIT pass out..
gal in office: ohh ..really.i heard all IITians booze a lot and are addicted to drugs..!
guy: well not really addicted though..
gal in office: hmm..
guy: so..can we go out this weekend..
gal in office: naah..i have plans..may be some other time..
guy: hmm..:( .. may be next weekend..
gal in office: hmm..# to herself(may be next life..)

hmm..our guy still believes his straight forward way is still the best..and i'll keep u updated if he meets a gal who likes him...

if you reached till this point..thanks for your patience..

these days i'm reading an awesome blog (Silverine) in my extremely boring and painful office hours.. she's simply awesome.. in fact some of the presentation ideas in this blog have been palgiarized from her blog.. :P .. in fact i'm thinking of proposing to her in a new way.. don't be surprised if you see..a big fonted 'PLeaseeeeeeeee Maryyyy Meeeeeee' in her comments section..;)
