The Grand Celebration - How we welcomed the new year:

I noticed most people are curious about what other People are going to do in certain situations.
And many of them ask the same kind of questions in those situations!

School exams - How many hours are you going to study today?Valentines day - How expensive is the gift you bought for your girl friend?Beginning semester of the college - How many books did you buy for this semester?last semester of the college - How many classes are you going to bunk this semester?First day in office - How many hot girls in our team?Last day to submit Appraisal forms - What rating are you going to give yourself? (5 out of 5 obviously :P )
People pose the same question to many people.
Each have different reasons.

Some people don't know what to do in those situations. So they 'd just pick one of the answers given by many and do the same.
Some people, who are absolutely jobless, collect all the answers and make a pie chart. (the same pie charts are published in renowned magazines as surveys :P)
And some (these are the worst kind) take advantage of your answer. These are the kind who'd buy a more expensive gift than yours and gift it to your girl friend!

hmm, anyways 'What are you going to do for the New Year's weekend?'
All my colleagues,Orkut friends, facebook friends,Gtalk friends,Yahoo friends (atleast a zillion people in total) asked me the same question last week.
Pat used to come my reply 'I'll get drunk :D'.

Ofcourse there were many kinds of reactions to my reply.
As all the boozer guys were happy with my reply, they either asked me if they can join our party or invited me to thier party.

All the preacher guys and and some girls gave me free advice :p
'You anyways booze for the rest of the year. Why booze again on the new year's day!'
'You know its time you should start caring about your liver!'
'Hmmph.. Now a days Young Indians are are so influenced by western civilization! Alcohol is the biggest evil westerners brought to India.'

Alcohol.. brought by westerners to India!
This is the most ignorant statement I've ever heard. I'm sure all my fellow Indian and Western boozer friends agree with me!
Just go and browse any of our epics. Alcohol was ever present in India, even in TretaYuga!

As only some of the many versions of the scriptures written are approved by the clergy as our epics, they potrayed that alcohol was only consumed by rakshasas! :P
In many of the other versions 'booze' is just a drink used during festivities to have fun!
Some even say, when the angels and demons churned the great sea, the last thing that came out of the sea was alcohol!

oops.. i'm going off track...i'll come back to topic of my current post now..

So my Mom and Dad asked me the same question..
'What are you going to do for the New Year's weekend?'

As it is not advisable to give them the same answer I said 'Nothing. I'm just going to stay home and watch TV.'
My Mom, felt pity for me (as I'm doin nothing on new year) and came up with a 'Things I should do list' on the new year's day.

Get up early in the morning and take a head bath! (my mom comfortably sitting in Andhra Pradesh has no idea about the winter in Gurgaon!!)Go to any of the near by temples and pray!Clean my room and Wash my clothes!Eat pure vegetarian food!Beware of my stupid friends who might trick me into trying new and bad things like consuming alcohol!

Hmm .. so it was clear .. I would not be able to do any of the things in 'Things I should do list'.
Though I contemplated going to a near by temple idea (only because all beautiful girls visit temples on New years day :P), I came to a conclusion that I would be too hung over
to visit a temple that day.

So me and my room mates decided that we will go for a 5 day boozing festival rather than a 7 day boozing festival like last time(due to various constraints).

Me and my freinds always believe in welcoming the new year with alcohol.

one of my friends says the logic is simple 'Alcohol makes me happy and active. If I am happy on the 1st day of new year, I'll be happy through out the year!"
My other friend goes into philosophical mood. He says 'God made a mistake. When he created the world he should have created them in a already high state of mind.
Imagine if that was the case, the world would have been so peaceful. No wars, no discrimination,no global warming, every one is happy. If someone commits a crime,
he will get a simple punishment. Make him drink water! he'll be pused back to normal state and he'll pretty much realise his mistake! And moreover Mankind would have
never committed thier biggest misktake - Creation of Money!' (My friend strongly believes that creation of money is the biggest mistake man has ever made)

So basically me and my friends welcomed the new year with boozing marathon starting from 30th Dec 2009 ending on 3rd Jan 2010.
We definitely had loads of fun!(all the booze haters, please spare me :P).
Though I don't know what you guys did on the New year's day, but I hope all of you started the new year happily!

I wish you all a happy and prosporous new year! Njoooooooooi...

PS: Though me and my friends are fanatic boozers, we are strongly against drinking and driving!
After all why drink and drive when you can smoke and fly .. :P
